Class Notes – December 2023

1950s

Bill E. Wright recently published a book about CSU Sports Hall of Fame basketball player, Hal Kinard (B.S., ’56; M.Ed., ’60), titled You Can and You Will. It is a story of the changes and the growth of Fort Collins and CSU from the 1950s to 2015. The book is available on Amazon.

1960s

Robert Halverson (B.S., ’63) attended the 2023 ROTC Rendezvous with several members of the 1963 ROTC class

Sue Nelson (B.S. ’60), former president of the Epsilon Beta chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, began her career by starting an elementary school for her local school district where she taught full-time. While working on her Master’s at Arizona State University, she taught in a local high school where she went on to become the principal and school district superintendent. Sue is now retired and stays active with environmental and local issues. She has outlived two husbands and resides in Santa Cruz, California.

Robert Halverson (B.S., ’63) attended the 2023 ROTC Rendezvous with several members of the 1963 ROTC class. Pictured are the members of the class meeting with Cadet Daniel Richardson. All of the members enjoyed the meetings, reception, tailgating, and football game.

Steve LaDochy (M.S., ’69) recently retired from California State University in Los Angeles, California after 52 years of higher education teaching in the geography, geology, and environment departments. Steve also recently co-authored a book, Fire and Rain: California’s Changing Weather and Climate, in Sept. 2023 with Michael Witiw.

1990s

Dr. Roberta Leach (B.S., ’88; B.S., ’88; DVM, ’92) recently married Richard Dean Leach on Oct. 29, 2023 at their home on the Chifin Band of Kalapuya ancestral land, now known as Coburg, Oregon. Dr. Leach (formerly Boyden) has a house-call practice specializing in end of life care and Richard is a wildlife field biologist. Roberta and Richard enjoy hiking, mushrooming, gardening, local music, and time with friends. They would like everyone to know it’s never too late to find love.

Brandon Majmudar (B.S., ’16)

2010s

Brandon Majmudar (B.S., ’16) successfully completed a rigorous certification process, and as a result, CFRE International has named him a Certified Fundraising Executive. The CFRE credential serves as a public and employer-recognized destination, signifying that Brandon has the requisite knowledge, skills, and commitment to execute fundraising duties effectively and ethically at a leadership level.
