Rams take care of Rams. And they proved it again on Giving Tuesday.

Colorado State University raised more than $100,000 for Rams Against Hunger on Tuesday, providing 13,352 meals for students in the program. Both the money raised and the number of meals shattered previous records for the daylong drive.

“I am proud – but not at all surprised – that so many people pledged their support to CSU on Giving Tuesday,” said President Joyce McConnell. “The record-breaking Rams Against Hunger fundraising effort, in particular, demonstrates how much our campus community cares for our students. We know that some of our students go hungry and that a hungry person cannot focus on learning. We share the responsibility to feed our students in need. I thank everyone who supported CSU on this day of giving, and those who support us all year.”

More than $144,000 raised overall

Nearly 1,900 people contributed to various causes, with another $44,747 raised for other CSU funds. The primary goal, however, was to support CSU’s impactful Rams Against Hunger program, and once again alumni, students, faculty and staff, and friends from around the world came through.

The campaign got a significant boost from a $25,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor. The same person has made the donation the past three years.

“The outpouring of generosity from the CSU community grows greater and greater every year,” said Thea Rounsaville, who organized the Giving Tuesday campaign for University Advancement. “The impact that Rams Against Hunger has for our students in need is so much more than just a meal, it’s a way for students to succeed!”
