1950s

Rich Gregory (B.S., ’58; Ph.D., ’69) wrote an invited chapter for an upcoming book on the role of leadership in sustaining fisheries that will be published by the American Fisheries Society next fall.
In 2019, he received an award as Outstanding Instructor in Applied and Environmental Science at Front Range Community College.

1960s

Maxine E. (Henke) (’60) and Robert J. Schultz (’61) will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2020. They are very active in their Oak Ridge, Tennessee, church, participating in more than 62 mission trips to Honduras, Louisiana, and Appalachia.

David (B.S., ’61; M.S., ’68) and Ruth Haynes ( B.S., ’81) Fullaway are now retired and continue to live on the Island of Maui. David worked for the State of Hawaii division of forestry from 1961–71, and the Federated States of Micronesia as Chief Forestry Officer for the U.S. Trust Territory for 5 years, as a science teacher for 12 years. They have three children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Ken Carpenter (B.A., ’69) published his memoir, Borderlands Boy: Love, War and Peace in the Atomic Age, which includes chapters on his years at CSU.

1980s

David “Yobie” Crowell, (B.S., ’88) published the fourth edition of Mountain Biking Moab: More than 40 of the Area’s Greatest Off-Road Bicycle Rides (Falcon Guides, 2019). Dave shares his love of the outdoors while detailing the best rides around Moab, in Canyonlands, and high in the La Sals in this handy pocket-size guidebook.

1990s

Dawn (Evans) Odean (B.A., ’92) was promoted to Executive Director of Early Learning for Jeffco Public Schools in Golden, Colo. In her new role, Odean will lead the school district’s preschool through third grade strategic plan efforts, ensuring universal access to quality preschool, equitable school readiness, and intentional community partnerships so that families of young children thrive.

2000s

Evan P. Schneider (B.A., ’01), is editor of The Best of Boneshaker, recently published by Fort Collins’ own Wolverine Farm Publishing. Ten years in the making, the book is a weather-worn collection of prose, poetry, interviews, art, and literary miscellany from ten issues of Boneshaker: A Bicycling Almanac that Esquire calls “a philosophical love letter to life in the saddle.”

Megan Larson (B.F.A, ’08), owner of Wellington-based M Rock Creative, was honored as one of BizWest’s Northern Colorado 40 Under Forty.

2010s

Machin Norris (B.S., ’10) was among the top finalists for the 2020 Colorado Teacher of the Year award conferred by the state Department of Education. She is a graduate in agricultural education who teaches STEM classes Northridge High School in Greeley. Norris earlier worked as an emergency medical technician and trainer, which led to her career as a teacher. She was nominated for the state honor for her work developing global citizens through education in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. She is a teacher liaison for the Space Foundation based in Colorado Springs and is especially interested in promoting aerospace opportunities to her students.

Paul Carringer (Ph.D., ’13) received the Robert L. Bailey Teaching Award from Franklin University. The award recognizes those who have challenged students intellectually in the classroom and careers.
